Steadily increasing home prices have shifted the local housing market to favor the seller in Jefferson County, making it harder for young workers to afford their first home, according to a recent market report.

A house in Jefferson County costs $266,780 on average as of last month, according to mortgage site Rocket Homes. That’s a 13.5% price increase ($31,780) between October and November of this year, the report said.
