Burger chain makes big change to its fries after Trump administration’s healthy food push
Steak n’ Shake has made a big change to its french fries.
The burger chain is joining the “Make America Healthy Again,” campaign made popular by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Steak n’ Shake is now cooking its shoestring fries in beef tallow instead of vegetable oil, reports Florida Today. Locations of the chain in the Melbourne area were the first to start cooking their french fries in beef tallow at the end of January.
Beef tallow comes from cows and is also known as beef fat or drippings. It is made by simmering and clarifying the fatty tissue of the animal.
