Budweiser Clydesdale events scaled back due to heat

The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales are in the Birmingham area this weekend and into next week, but several scheduled events may be scaled back due to heat.

The Clydesdales are scheduled to appear at several public events running June 15 through June 21 in Birmingham, Homewood and Trussville.

The Clydesdales’ first appearance open to the public will be at the Homewood Brews and Bridles event on Saturday, June 15, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Homewood City Hall.

The event was scheduled to include a full-hitch parade with eight horses pulling a wagon along a special route in Homewood, but that has been derailed by the heat. The event will go on but may only include one horse, a spokeswoman said.

On June 20, the “The Lakeview Triple Play: Beer, Baseball, and Budweiser Clydesdales” will kick off at 3 p.m. at Pepper Place South on 29th Street South. That was also scheduled to feature a full-hitch parade, but again may be limited to an appearance of just one horse because of the heat.

The final appearance featuring a Budweiser Clydesdale will be a single horse appearance at Trussville Social from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on June 21.

The Clydesdale team’s visit to Birmingham this month is part of its national tour celebrating Budweiser’s 14-year partnership with nonprofit organization Folds of Honor, which provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military service members and first responders who have fallen or been disabled while serving.
