Buc-ee’s new Texas convenience store is world’s largest. It won’t be for long
When the new Buc-ee’s travel center opens in Luling, Texas, next week, it will become not only the largest Buc-ee’s but the largest convenience store anywhere in the world, according to the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS).
But the folks in Luling better not get to comfortable being having the record-holder in their city, because come next year, a bigger one is set to open in Florida.
Much bigger.
For the next few days, the Buc-ee’s in Sevierville, Tenn., will continue to hold the record at 74,707 square feet. When the new Luling store opens next week, it will squeeze past that mark by a few hundred feet, checking in at just over 75,000 square feet.
When a new Buc-ee’s opens in along Interstate 75 near Ocala next year, it will encompass more than 80,000 square feet, easily outdistancing anything built previously. That’s room for a lot of Beaver Nuggets.
For perspective, Alabama’s four Buc-ee’s locations are all between 50,000-55,00 square feet. Mississippi’s first Buc-ee’s, also set to open next summer, will only be 74,000 square feet.
