Bryson Ware breaks Auburn single-season home run record at SEC Tournament vs. Alabama
Auburn third baseman Bryson Ware took Alabama starting pitcher Garrett McMillian’s first pitch in the top of the sixth Thursday over the left field fence for his 24th home run this season, setting the school record for home runs in a season.
Auburn trailed 5-1 in an elimination game of the Southeastern Conference at the Hoover Met when Ware turned on the offering by McMillan. Ware tied former Tiger (and current Alabama assistant coach) Hunter Morris’ record set in 2010 against Vandy and broke it versus Alabama. The two shared a moment before Thursday afternoon’s contest.
Auburn pulled within three runs of Alabama’s lead with the Ware home run. It was the second home run for Ware in as many games following Wednesday night’s record-tying home run vs. Vanderbilt.
