Bryce Young practices, doesn’t throw, before Alabama-Texas A&M kickoff
Bryce Young is still a “game-time” decision, per Alabama head coach Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide quarterback went through pregame warmups on Bryant-Denny Field an hour before kickoff on Saturday night.
Alabama’s centers and quarterbacks usually practice handoffs and snap 45 minutes before kickoff. The Tide’s Heisman Award winner hugged his lineman and worked with first-string center Darrion Dalcourt. While other quarterbacks threw the ball back, Young, who sprained his shoulder against Arkansas, did not.
When the team separated for pass-catching drills, Young stood off to the side while Jalen Milroe and walk-on Amanni Stewart tossed passes. On the other end, freshman Ty Simpson threw. Stewart is listed at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, and is from Charles Herbet (Md.) High.
Jalen Milroe replaced Young for the majority of last week’s road game against the Razorbacks. Milroe threw for 56 yards on four completions, 91 rushing yards and two total touchdowns.
Alabama kicks off against Texas A&M at 7 p.m. CDT on CBS.
