Bryce Young ‘on a pitch count’ in Alabama practice
With kickoff in Knoxville approaching, Bryce Young injury watch continues.
Nick Saban had an update earlier Wednesday during the weekly SEC teleconference before adding a little more after the afternoon practice.
“Bryce continues to practice a little bit more,” Saban said. “We’ve got him on a little bit of a pitch count just to ween him back into it and see how it goes. We expect him to do a little bit more (Thursday). That’s all I really have to say about that.”
No. 3 Alabama will face sixth-ranked Tennessee at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday in Knoxville.
The 2021 Heisman Trophy winner missed last week’s 24-20 win over Texas A&M after spraining his throwing shoulder at Arkansas. Saban said Saturday that Young wanted to play late in the game but Jalen Milroe played the full 60 minutes against the Aggies.
“I didn’t think he was in a position where he could go and effectively do his job the way he’s capable of doing it,” Saban said earlier Wednesday. “He’s made a lot of progress from that point so hopefully that will change here in the near future.”
