Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band cancel concerts due to peptic ulcer disease

Bruce Springsteen’s concert scheduled for Thursday at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse has been canceled.

A representative for Live Nation said the singer is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and his medical advisors decided he should postpone the upcoming shows on his tour.

All of Springsteen’s September performances with the E Street Band have been canceled, according to a representative from Live Nation. They are expected to be rescheduled.

“Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows,” Springsteen said in a statement provided by Live Nation.

“First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our US shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon. Love and God bless all, Bruce”

Ticketholders will receive more information about rescheduled dates.

The postponed shows include:

  • Sept. 7 – Syracuse, NY @ JMA Wireless Dome
  • Sept. 9 – Baltimore, MD @ Oriole Park at Camden Yards
  • Sept. 12 – Pittsburgh, PA @ PPG Paints Arena
  • Sept. 14 – Pittsburgh, PA @ PPG Paints Arena
  • Sept. 16 – Uncasville, CT @ Mohegan Sun Arena
  • Sept. 19 – Albany, NY @ MVP Arena
  • Sept. 21 – Columbus, OH @ Nationwide Arena
  • Sept. 29 – Washington, DC @ Nationals Park

More than 30,000 tickets had been sold for Springsteen’s concert at the Dome.

As of Wednesday morning, the show was expected to go on. The Dome hosted an event for media, showing off the towering stage that had been erected on the building’s floor. Twenty-two trucks’ worth of gear was being set up for the show. Officials warned people about traffic jams expected on Thursday.

But by Wednesday night, around 8:30 p.m., a decision had been made to cancel.

Springsteen, 73, most recently played a pair of shows Saturday and Sunday night at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey.
