Browns sign Jerry Jeudy to $58 million contract extension

Traded by the Denver Broncos to Cleveland last week, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy signed a three-year contract extension with his new team on Tuesday, the Browns announced.

The new deal could be worth up to $58 million and includes $41 million in guaranteed money, cleveland.com reported.

“When we acquired Jerry via trade this spring, it was with the vision that he would become a core member of our offense in 2024 and beyond,” said Andrew Berry, the Browns’ general manager, is a release from the team. “He is a scheme-versatile receiver with high-level ability to separate against man coverage and a diverse number of ways to produce on the perimeter or in the slot.

“We felt that the ability to add a passionate and competitive player with his combination of strengths would be an important component of our offense now and into the future. At 24 years old and just entering his prime, we are pleased to have Jerry as a member of the Browns for the next several seasons and believe the best is yet to come.”

Cleveland traded fifth- and sixth-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Broncos for the former Alabama All-American.

In 2023, Jeudy had 54 receptions for 758 yards and two touchdowns. In 57 games with Denver, Jeudy had 211 receptions for 3,053 yards and 11 touchdowns after joining the Broncos as the 15th selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

“It means a lot to be able to have the opportunity to change my family’s life and be a part of a great organization that is building a winning culture,” Jeudy said after signing the contract at the Browns’ CrossCountry Mortgage Campus, “so I’m very excited and looking forward to the future. This who I do it for, this is who I grind for and this is who keeps me motivated to keep being the best version of myself so I could be able to provide and take care of all of them. So excited just to have them here with me.”

Last offseason, the Broncos picked up their option for a fifth season on Jeudy’s four-year rookie contract. Jeudy was scheduled to make $12.987 million in 2024 on the fifth-year option, and the Browns already had restructured that arrangement into a $1.125 million base salary and an $11.862 million signing bonus that could be prorated over five seasons for salary-cap relief.

The new contract extends Jeudy’s contract obligations with Cleveland through the 2027 season.

In three seasons at Alabama, Jeudy had 159 receptions for 2,742 yards and 26 touchdowns. He earned consensus All-American recognition in 2018 and repeated as a member of the American Football Coaches Association’s first-team selections in 2019.
