Brookwood man dies in Tuscaloosa County crash; search on for driver
A Brookwood man died Saturday in a crash in Tuscaloosa County.
State troopers identified the man as 58-year-old William R. Smith.
Senior trooper Justin O’Neal, a spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said Smith was a passenger in a Kia Seltos and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The car left on Maxwell Loop Road about five miles south of Tuscaloosa City limits and struck a tree. The driver of the car left the scene of the crash before law enforcement arrived, O’Neal said in a news release.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
As troopers continue to investigate, ALEA asked that anyone with information about the incident or the driver call 205-553-5531.
