Country stars Brooks & Dunn will bring their “Reboot” tour to Birmingham in 2023, with “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery as a special guest. The longtime hitmakers are set to perform on May 18 at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC, 1898 Ninth Ave. North.

Singer-guitarist Brooks and singer Dunn — considered by many to have one of the finest voices in country music — joined forces in 1990. The duo released its first album in 1991, “Brand New Man,” and quickly became a Nashville powerhouse. Brooks & Dunn were a constant presence on country radio throughout the decade, releasing singles such as “Neon Moon,” “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” “That Ain’t No Way to Go,” “She’s Not the Cheatin’ Kind,” “My Maria,” “Little Miss Honky Tonk,” “Rock My World (Little Country Girl)” and more.

The duo has almost a dozen studio albums to its credit, many of which went platinum or multi-platinum, and a raft of awards from Grammy, the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music, Billboard, CMT and more.

Brooks & Dunn also have a successful history of performances in Alabama, playing to enthusiastic crowds at venues such as Birmingham’s BJCC Arena and Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham.

Brooks & Dunn continued to make music throughout most of the 2000s, and announced retirement plans in 2009. The duo split in 2010 — amicably, they said — and both have released solo projects. However, their greatest impact on the country world has been made as a team.

Brooks & Dunn reunited in 2015 for a residency in Las Vegas with Reba McEntire, at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace. They were headliners in 2019 at the Rock the South festival in Cullman, and played Huntsville in May 2022 at the Von Braun Center Arena.

The duo’s latest studio album, 2019′s “Reboot,” offers nearly a dozen of their hits and signature songs, reimagined as collaborations with artists such as Luke Combs, Kacey Musgraves, Thomas Rhett, Ashley McBryde and Brett Young.
