Broccoli sold at Walmart recalled in 20 states now labeled deadly by FDA
A recall of broccoli sold at Walmart in 20 states has been upgraded to deadly, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Last year, California-based grocery producer Braga Fresh voluntarily issued a precautionary recall of 12-ounce washed and ready-to-eat Marketside Broccoli Florets sold at more than 1,000 Walmart stores due to the possibility of Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
In a notice published on Jan. 27, 2025, the FDA upgraded to recall to Class I, the highest recall risk level issued by the agency, meaning the recall can potentially lead to death.
The recalled bags of broccoli were in Arkansas, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
The recalled bags of florets are past their best-if-used date of Dec. 10, 2024.
