Brief tornado confirmed in Alabama on Friday
Alabama’s last round of rain also brought a tornado along with it, it turns out.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has confirmed that a brief EF-0 tornado touched down in central Fayette County on Friday night as a round of rain and mostly non-severe storms moved through the state.
The weather service completed a storm survey of the area on Sunday.
The weather service said the tornado had peak winds of 80 mph. It had a path length of 2.28 miles and a path width of 125 yards. It touched down at 7:34 p.m. Friday just west of County Road 77.
