Brett McMurphy broke Alabama-SMU CFP news before broadcast and people weren’t happy

Brett McMurphy let the cat out of the bag Sunday.

People weren’t happy about.

Moments before the College Football Playoff Selection Show took the air to announce the 12-team CFP playoff, the Action Network reporter posted on social media that SMU was in and Alabama was out of the field. It was the most intriguing unknown of the broadcast.

“Shortly before it was announced, I saw a tweet from Brett McMurphy and the Vegas odds started shifting ,” SMU coach Rhett Lashlee said. “It probably took my heart rate from 200 to about 160. Until we saw SMU up there, you are just hanging on the edge.”

McMurphy broke the news and it was met with negative feedback.

The feedback was immediate:

“This leak is on brand with the disaster of these playoffs.” – Chris Landry
