Brasfield & Gorrie completes $38 million North Carolina cancer center
Birmingham construction firm Brasfield & Gorrie has completed a $38 million healthcare facility in Valdese, N.C.
The new Cancer Center at UNC Health Blue Ridge Valdese held a grand opening ceremony on Tuesday.
The new 34,272-square-foot center features new infusion therapy and treatment areas with private and open space, radiation and chemotherapy exam rooms, consultation areas and treatment spaces.
Equipment includes two new linear accelerators, a CT simulator and superficial X-ray.
DLR Group is the design firm.
“We’re grateful that we were part of the team that built this new cancer center,” Brasfield & Gorrie Regional Vice President and Division Manager Michael Byrd said. “The team at UNC Health Blue Ridge Valdese is actively working to serve their community, and it’s humbling to lend our construction expertise to make that possible.”
Wenimar Salvador, the medical oncologist at the center, said the center will provide space for education, support and group therapy.
