Brasfield & Gorrie begins work on Oklahoma Blue Bell factory expansion
Birmingham general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie has begun work on a major expansion of a Blue Bell Ice Cream plant in Oklahoma.
The manufacturing facility, located in Broken Arrow, is undergoing a 100,002-square-foot expansion.
Plans call for a new automated storage and retrieval system, office expansion, dry storage warehouse, cold docks, stand-alone refrigeration engine room and site improvements.
The automated system is described as a 95-foot “vending machine,” increasing the plant’s storage capacity and efficiency of loading trucks.
Brasfield & Gorrie is the general contractor. Gresham Smith is the architect.
The expansion is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.
“Industrial construction is often complex, and these types of projects are essential for our nation’s business,” B&G Vice President and Division Manager Ryan Springer said. “We’re honored to put our significant industrial experience to work as we help Blue Bell expand its capacity.”
The Broken Arrow expansion will be the 32nd project Brasfield & Gorrie has completed with Blue Bell since 1995, and its second on this campus.
Blue Bell has a production facility in Sylacauga, as well as Brenham, Texas.
