Brasfield & Gorrie begins work on new $32 million Alabama county courthouse
Birmingham contractor Brasfield & Gorrie has begun construction on a new $32 million Chilton County Courthouse.
Situated on Alabama 145, the approximately 72,000-square-foot courthouse will occupy six acres of a 13-acre plot, with room for expansion. The project also includes highway access.
The project is scheduled for completion in early 2026.
Architecture firm Birchfield Peneul Architects designed the project.
Russ Realmuto, associate principal at Birchfield Penuel Architects, said the goal was to “create a modern, functional and welcoming courthouse—a space that not only meets the needs of today but also anticipates the growth and future potential of the community. “
The courthouse will include courtrooms, support areas, licensing and administrative offices.
“We’re honored to bring our significant experience in government construction to Chilton County,” Vice President and Division Manager Sara Beth Wilcox said. “Brasfield & Gorrie has been headquartered in Alabama since its start, 60 years ago, and we’re passionate about building strong communities—especially in the places we call home.”
