Brandon Miller repeats as winner of NBA award
Just as he was in January, Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller is the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for February, the NBA announced on Monday.
In 13 February games, Miller averaged 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals.
That raised Miller’s season averages to 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.9 steals in 54 games in the 2023-24 season.
The Hornets entered February with a five-game losing streak and lost their first five games of the month. But Charlotte then ran off four victories in a row for the first time this season.
Miller joined the Hornets from Alabama as the second player picked in 2023 NBA Draft. The player chosen ahead of Miller, center Victor Wembanyama, was the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for February with the San Antonio Spurs.
Miller made a strong start to March, too, with the first double-double of his career. In a 111-106 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday, Miller had 26 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
Miller and the Hornets will be back in action when they square off against the Orlando Magic at 6 p.m. CST Tuesday at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
