Brandon Miller is Alabama’s second-ever consensus second-team All-American

Alabama star freshman Brandon Miller on Wednesday became the program’s second-ever consensus second-team All-American, as recognized by the NCAA record book.

Miller joins Leon Douglas, who earned consensus second-team All-America status in 1975.

The NCAA’s record book recognizes four All-America lists in determining its consensus teams: the Associated Press, Sporting News, NABC and USBWA. Miller was named a first-team All-American by the AP and Sporting News, but was a second-team pick on the NABC and USBWA lists released Wednesday.

Miller, as a result, fell short of becoming Alabama’s first-ever consensus first-team All-American.

Purdue’s Zach Edey, Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis, Kansas’ Jalen Wilson, Gonzaga’s Drew Timme and Houston’s Marcus Sasser all earned first-team recognition on at least three of the four recognized lists, including Wednesday’s NABC and USBWA lists, and will be noted as consensus first-team All-Americans in the record book.

Miller was joined on the USBWA second team by UCLA’s Jaime Jaquez, Marquette’s Tyler Kolek, Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe and Arizona’s Azuolas Tubelis.

According to Alabama’s record book, Miller is the first Tide player chosen to a USBWA All-America team since Reggie King made the second team in 1978.
