Brandon Miller has a quick reaction to an Auburn basketball jersey

In hopes of creating some social-media content, the Charlotte Hornets snuck shirts and jerseys from the college rivals of their players as they signed their autographs to stacks of merchandise.

Forward Brandon Miller was not fooled. When the former Alabama standout hit the Auburn jersey in his pile of Hornets jerseys, he disposed of it quickly and went right back to signing.

Miller already had shown he knew which jerseys to sign.

Last week after a 115-104 victory over the Phoenix Suns in Charlotte, the Hornets forward stopped courtside to autograph his jersey and give it to Bryce Young, the former Alabama All-American who is the quarterback of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.

On Sunday, Miller played in his 100th NBA regular-season game. Miller had 1,827 points, 441 rebounds, 270 assists, 92 steals and 61 blocked shots in those 100 games.

The only players who started their careers in the previous 25 seasons who can meet Miller’s totals in those five statistical categories in their first 100 games are LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Victor Wembanyama, who was the only player picked ahead of Miller in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Miller also has 285 3-point baskets. In the previous 25 seasons, only one player had made more 3-pointers in the first 100 games of his career – the Miami Heat’s Duncan Robinson with 326.

Miller and the Hornets will be back in action on Wednesday, when Charlotte plays the Utah Jazz at 8 p.m. CST at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
