Boyfriend sought on kidnapping charge in disappearance of 40-year-old Birmingham mother of 4

An arrest warrant has been issued for the boyfriend of a 40-year-old mother missing from Birmingham for more than 24 hours.

Cedric Dewayne Robertson, 37, is charged with first-degree kidnapping in the disappearance of Nakita Chantryce Davidson.

Authorities have been searching for Robertson and Davidson since Thursday’s predawn hours.

Birmingham police and the U.S. Marshals Service worked throughout Friday’s early-morning hours near Mayfield Avenue on the city’s southwest side after a reported sighting of Robertson, but he remains at large.

Davidson was last seen at 1:45 a.m. Thursday at Sixth Avenue S.W. and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

“She is one good-hearted person,’’ said her brother, Laderrius Swain. “She would give you the shirt off her back.”

Swain said his sister had been dating Roberts for less than a year. “Her plan was to get away from him,’’ he said. “That’s what she was trying to do that night.”

Swain said the family hasn’t slept since her disappearance.

The investigation began when South Precinct officers were dispatched at 2:11 a.m. Thursday on a report of a two-vehicle wreck at Sixth Avenue S.W. and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said officers arrived to find evidence of a possible shooting.

Police earlier released a photo of a pink Nike sneaker, and that photo helped to identify her.

Davidson’s vehicle – a 2008 burgundy Saturn Outlook – was driven away from the scene.

“We believe she was seriously injured and kidnapped,’’ said Wade said.

Davidson is 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. She was wearing a long pink dress, a jacket, and the pink Nike shoes.

She has four children – three girls and a boy.

Robertson is believed to be in the Powderly and Jones Valley communities. He is 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.

If anyone sees Robertson or has any information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
