Boyfriend allegedly stabs Alabama woman more than 100 times, dismembers body
A Blount County man is behind bars after his live-in girlfriend was found fatally stabbed at their Springville home.
Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey confirmed an autopsy showed the victim had more than 100 stab wounds, and was no longer in one piece.
Justin Fields, 38, is charged with murder and abuse of corpse in the Saturday slaying of 52-year-old Tammy Bailey.
Authorities said a neighbor called 911 Saturday just before 5:30 p.m. requesting a welfare check, believing there had been a shooting at the home. The couple lived on Bailey Drive.
Blount County sheriff’s deputies arrived and found Bailey dead.
Charging documents against Fields state that he killed Bailey and committed abuse of corpse. Authorities said a knife was used in both alleged crimes.
Fields was taken into custody at the scene, and formally charged on Monday.
He remains in the Blount County Jail.
