‘Boy Meets World’ alum updates cancer battle: ‘Hurts to be awake’

Danielle Fishel shared she is “officially done” with her breast cancer treatments, but the “Boy Meets World” alum is dealing with the painful impact of 20 rounds of radiation.

“I just wanted to give everyone an update because I’ve kept you guys all abreast,” Fishel said on the Jan. 13 episode of “Pod Meets World,” per PEOPLE.

“I am officially done with radiation.

The 43-year-old, however, laid out the issues she is still dealing with.

“I did 15 rounds of whole breast radiation and then five rounds of targeted radiation, which just means they focus in on the very small area where my cancer was versus treating the entire breast,” she said. “It will help significantly lower my chances of recurrence, which is always good news, but, boy, I am feeling the effects … Physically, I have a very bad sunburn. I also have a rash on top of the sunburn, which is just great,” she added sarcastically.

“It’s very itchy, and, also, you can’t itch it, because if you even come close to touching it, you wanna cry.”

She added it “hurts to be awake.”
