Boy, 17, facing capital murder charge in fatal 2021 Florence shooting
A 17-year-old boy has been indicted on capital murder charges in the fatal 2021 shooting of another teenager at a Florence apartment complex, police said Wednesday.
Quearus Ashton Coffey, was charged as an adult after being indicted Friday by a Lauderdale County Grand Jury on charges of capital murder and second-degree receiving stolen property in connection with the slaying of 19-year-old Miguel Antonio Adame, Florence police said.
Adame, 19, died of multiple gunshot wounds days after after being struck by gunfire at the Quail Run Apartments in Florence in August 2021, authorities said at the time.
Another juvenile, who was not named, was arrested on capital murder charges a month after the slaying.
Quearus was arrested and booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
