Bomani Jones talks about HBO canceling ‘Game Theory’ after 2 seasons: ‘The show got better’

Bomani Jones talked Wednesday about HBO canceling “Game Theory with Bomani Jones,” saying the show just kept getting better.

During his podcast The Evening Jones, he said he knew two months ago that the series would end after the second season.

“Do you realize how bananas it is that for two seasons I got to do a TV show on HBO the way that I wanted to do a TV show on HBO?” Jones said. “Do you understand the rarified air that that is in?

“We got to ‘stuff you dream of’ level.”

Outkick broke the news that HBO would not renew the show for a third season.

The show debuted in 2022. According to Outkick, each season lost “on average over 80 percent of its lead-in viewership.”

“All I can tell you is how good the show itself was and how the show got better,” he said on the podcast. “I could look at episode one of the first season and compare it to episode ten of the last season and man, the show just got a whole lot better.

“We did a show that I think is really good. And we did a show that I am personally prouder of than anything that I have ever done professionally.”

Jones didn’t want to elaborate on why the show was not renewed for an additional season.
