Bojangles introduces Hard Sweet Tea – but there’s a catch

Chicken and biscuit chain Bojangles is collaborating with a North Carolina-based brewery to add a special ingredient to its sweet tea.

Bojangles Hard Sweet Tea will be available – but not in the chain’s restaurants. Instead, 12-pack, 12-ounce cans and individual 16-ounce cans will be sold in stores in the Carolinas this year.

The drink should be available in other states at a later date, The State is reporting.

According to Southern Living, the tea was concocted in a collaboration with Appalachian Mountain Brewing (AMB).

Jackie Woodward, Chief Brand and Marketing Officer for Bojangles, said the company can’t wait for fans of its regular tea to try it.

“Partnering with AMB to craft our Legendary Iced Tea into a hard tea for fans of legal drinking age was a natural fit, and the team poured passion into the entire process,” Woodward said.

Bojangles has about 800 restaurants across 15 states and is headquartered in Charlotte, N.C.
