Body of Tennessee guardsman killed in Alabama helicopter crash returns home

The body of a Tennessee National Guard member killed in last month’s helicopter crash in Huntsville returned to Tennessee this morning.

Metro Nashville Police were there at Nashville International Airport to escort the remains of Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Wadham, arriving just after 10:30 a.m., according to WSMV.

Wadham and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Danny Randolph, of Murfreesboro, were killed Feb. 15 when their UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter crashed near Alabama 53 and Burwell Road in Huntsville around 3 p.m. during a training mission for the Tennessee National Guard.

Wadham’s LinkedIn account listed him as an Aviation Safety Officer and Blackhawk helicopter pilot with 14 years of military experience. He had been a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard for nine years and a former Metro Nashville policeman.

The two were men assigned to A Company, 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion, from Nashville’s Berry Field Air National Guard Base.
