Bonnie Allison, the daughter of Bobby Allison and sister to the late Davey and Clifford Allison, is selling the historic Allison property in Hueytown, Alabama.

“It’s just time to downsize,” Bonnie Allison told AL.com. “My kids are all grown, and the property is too much for me to take care of by myself.”

It was the personal residence of Bobby Allison and wife Judy from 1969 until they relocated to Charlotte in the early 2000′s.

The property, sprawled over 4.8 acres, includes a custom-built, 5,028-square foot main house featuring five bedrooms, four bathrooms and multiple workshops. There is a five-car garage. In addition, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom guest mobile home remains on site. The compound also contains detached offices and a storage building/hobby space.

The listing price is $697,700. Amenities feature pool, deck, patio, fireplaces, as well as a 1+ acre pond stocked with bass and bream.

There are memories, but Bonnie Allison said Talladega weekends are among the best.

“Pool parties after Talladega and other racing events in the summer when other family members were able to join us (are my best memories),” Bonnie Allison said. “Many, many parties with family and friends.”

Bonnie Allison acquired the home and raised her family there after Bobby Allison relocated to Charlotte. As many memories as Bonnie Allison has had, she said it was just time.

“It is not difficult,” she said. “It is just something that must be done. I don’t need near this amount of space.”

The property is where the late Davey Allison and Clifford Allison were raised from their pre-teen years in the 70′s until they grew up and moved into their own homes in Hueytown.

Hueytown, recognized across the racing world because of the success of the Allison clan, still makes note of its racing heritage.

In August, Donnie Allison was selected from five Pioneer nominees to join his brother Bobby Allison, his nephew Davey Allison and his friend Red Farmer in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Davey Allison, Bobby Allison and Farmer were the original members of the Alabama Gang, as they came to be called as their exploits put Hueytown on the map in stock-car racing circles.

However, the Allisons faced list of tragedies, including a near-fatal crash by Bobby and an accident that effectively ended Donnie’s career.

It started with Bobby Allison’s accident at Pocono Raceway in 1988 which ended his NASCAR career. His car was T-boned on the track. He almost died and had years of rehabilitation.

Clifford Allison died instantly in a crash into the wall while practicing at Michigan International Speedway in 1992. He was 27.

In July 1993, Davey died after crashing a helicopter he was piloting.

Despite the tragedies, Bonnie Allison, the family and the estate have endured. To that point, she holds her time at the Hueytown property near to her heart.

“Sunday dinners when as many of the family could come over as life at the time would allow (are my favorite memories of the property),” Bonnie Allison said. “There were over 26 grandchildren of my generation. It was a fun time.”
