Bob Jones star wide receiver commits to Memphis

One of the top offensive playmakers in north Alabama will continue his football career at one of the nation’s top Group of Five programs.

Bob Jones wide receiver Rhys Dorsey has committed to Memphis, he announced on social media Monday morning.

Dorsey picked Memphis over other offers that included Troy, UAB, Jacksonville State, South Alabama, Liberty, Western Kentucky and Georgia Southern.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound receiver is graded as a 3-star wide receiver by Rivals.

Last season, he was a second team all-region pick by the Huntsville Times after hauling in 41 catches for 763 yards and 9 touchdowns as a junior.

Dorsey hauled in seven passes for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns in a season-opening victory over Cullman, which included a 90-yard touchdown reception on the first play of the game.

He also returned 12 kickoffs for 295 yards and 2 touchdowns on special teams for the Patriots and took an interception 100 yards for a touchdown on defense against Sparkman.

Bob Jones averaged 40.8 points a game on offense last season, which ranked second in Class 7A behind Auburn High.
