THIS GAME WILL DETERMINE

Nothing more than pride. Following its loss to Navy, UAB will not be bowl-eligible for the first time in a decade.

THREE THINGS TO LOOK FOR

1. Sultans of Swing. Senior running back Jermaine Brown Jr. and junior quarterback Jacob Zeno set program records last week in an underwhelming performance at Navy, but both should be back at their best for the season’s final home game. Brown is 9 yards away from moving into third place on UAB’s career rushing list, and Zeno needs 585 yards to set the single-season program record for passing yards.

2. More Than This. UAB failed to reach the end zone for the first time all season last week at Navy but should find little trouble scoring on a Temple defense allowing 435.1 yards per game and giving up an average of 34.9 points. Jacob Zeno and his merry band of receivers could have a field day and Jermaine Brown Jr. and Lee Beebe will be critical in keeping the Owls honest against the run.

3. Who’ll Buy My Memories. The Blazers are set to honor 11 seniors in the final home game of their careers. Nikia Eason Jr., Michael Fairbanks II and Fish McWilliams were part of both conference titles for UAB, and the other seniors include: Jermaine Brown Jr., Tejhaun Palmer, Tyrique Howard, Demetrius Battle, Samario Rudolph, Will Sorrells, Keondre Swoopes and Matt Quinn.

KEY MATCHUP

UAB’s secondary vs Temple’s passing attack: The Blazers have improved steadily in the season’s backend but face one of the league’s top signal-callers in E.J. Warner, son of NFL Hall of Famer Kurt Warner. The younger Warner averages 302.9 ypg and has passed for 2,423 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Mac Williams, Colby Dempsey and BJ Mayes form a solid trio at cornerback, combining for 23 pass breakups and Mayes with two picks, and Keondre Swoopes, who has two double turnover games this season, leads a hard-hitting safety unit.
