Black Spring Break returns to Biloxi next weekend: What you need to know

Tens of thousands of teens and adults are again expected to flock to Biloxi as Black Spring Break ‘23 begins next Thursday.

According to the Black Spring Break Facebook page, the event kicks off with the HBCU Takeover beach party, beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, with events including bikini football and a mechanical bull on Biloxi beach.

The centerpiece of this year’s Black Spring Break, which runs through next Sunday, is the Saturday night concert, which this year features Kodak Black & Friends at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and tickets start at $80 per person.

A full listing of events can be found on the event’s Instagram page.

As always, traffic will be an issue during the event, with pedestrians and cars alike flooding U.S. 90 in Biloxi and other areas of Harrison County. Areas around the coliseum and Edgewater Mall are areas that can experience heaviest congestion, including large number of pedestrians crossing the highway to the beach.

The heaviest traffic is expected next Friday and Saturday. Biloxi police have the discretion to place traffic control devices where needed or to limit traffic to one lane in each direction.

Drivers looking to avoid the U.S. 90 congestion are encouraged to use Interstate 10 or Pass Road to navigate around the area. Traffic updates are available by texting BILOXI to 99411 to sign up for the City of Biloxi alert system.
