Birmingham woman charged in shooting of Uber driver at Homewood intersection

A Birmingham woman has been charged in a shooting in Homewood that left a man injured.

Homewood police on Friday said Kenia Michelle Sturdivant, 23, is charged with attempted murder, said Sgt. John Carr.

She is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.

Police were notified at 12:17 p.m. Wednesday of a person shot at Barber Court and West Valley Avenue.

Officers found the male driver of a vehicle had sustained a gunshot wound. He was alert and conscious when taken to the hospital.

Carr said the victim is an Uber driver and Sturdivant was a customer. They did not know each other, but it’s not clear what led to the shooting.
