Gainers outshined decliners Thursday on our Birmingham and Alabama Stock Report with the help of one particularly impressive rise.

WestRock paced the table with a gain of 5%. It is a corrugated packaging company based in Atlanta. The second-largest American packaging company, it has eight sites across the state, including Huntsville, Athens, Stevenson and Cullman in north Alabama to Eutaw, Lanett, Demopolis and Montgomery in central Alabama.

Community Health Systems sank 9.5% to foot the table. The Franklin, Tennessee-based, company has six locations in Alabama: Birmingham, Dothan, Enterprise, Foley, Gadsden and Huntsville.
