Birmingham Stallions quarterback wins UFL Offensive Player of the Week Award
Birmingham Stallions quarterback J’Mar Smith is the United Football League Offensive Player of the Week for Week 9 of the 2025 season, the league announced on Wednesday.
During the Stallions’ 26-22 victory over the Michigan Panthers on Saturday, Smith completed 22-of-31 passes for 307 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Smith’s second touchdown pass provided Birmingham’s margin in victory with 2:22 to play and was the second fourth-quarter TD drive to take the lead by the Stallions on Saturday.
In his second start of the season, Smith directed the Birmingham offense to a success rate of 11-of-13 on third-down snaps. The Stallions gained 256 yards and scored three touchdowns on third down against the Panthers.
The other award winners for Week 9 are Arlington Renegades outside linebacker Donald Payne, the UFL Defensive Player of the Week; and San Antonio Brahmas running back Jaden Shirden, the UFL Special-Teams Player of the Week.
Smith became the second Birmingham player to win a UFL weekly award this season. Stallions kicker Harrison Mevis was the UFL Special-Teams Player of the Week of Week 7 for his performance in a 33-25 victory over the Houston Roughnecks.
Birmingham closes its regular-season schedule against the Memphis Showboats at 2 p.m. CDT Sunday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. FOX will televise the game.
