The Packers traded four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets in April and are elevating his backup, Jordan Love, into the starting-quarterback spot in 2023.

Also on the roster are quarterbacks Danny Etling and Sean Clifford. Etling has been on seven teams since entering the NFL in 2018 but has never played in a regular-season game. The Packers picked Clifford from Penn State in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on April 29.

McGough has been in the NFL previously, but he has never played in a regular-season game. A seventh-round selection of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2018 NFL Draft, McGough also had been with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans before joining the Stallions last season.

During the 2023 regular season, McGough completed 180-of-267 passes for 2,105 yards with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions and ran for 403 yards and five touchdowns on 70 carries in 10 games.

McGough led the USFL in touchdown passes, TD responsibility and passing-efficiency rating at 108.3 while finishing sixth in rushing yards.

After leading Birmingham to an 8-2 record that was the USFL’s best in 2023, McGough completed 21-of-31 passes for 310 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions and ran for 84 yards and one touchdown on eight carries in a 47-22 victory over the New Orleans Breakers to open the playoffs.

In the USFL Championship Game, McGough completed 16-of-23 passes for 243 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions and ran for 64 yards on nine carries in a 28-12 victory over the Pittsburgh Maulers on July 1.

McGough will report for training camp with the Packers on Friday.
