The Birmingham News Power 5 ranks the top softball teams in the area regardless of class.

Area tournaments wrapped up last week with regional tournaments beginning play on Monday.

The top two teams in each of seven classes at regionals — North at Florence’s Coffee O’Neal Park, East at Albertville’s Sand Mountain Park, Central at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park, and South at Gulf Shores Sportsplex — move on to state tournament play, beginning May 13 at Oxford’s Choccolocco Park.
