Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a weekend shooting in Center Point.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Dexter Antonio Buchanan. He was 36.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched about 5:45 p.m. Saturday to a report of a person down in the 500 block of 16th Court N.W. in the Center Point area.

They arrived to find Buchanan wounded by gunfire, according to sheriff’s officials. Center Point Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at 6:03 p.m.

No additional details surrounding the fatal shooting have been released, and no arrests have been announced.
