Birmingham man charged in shooting that injured 2 – including 15-year-old girl – captured in Tennessee

A suspect has been charged in a Jefferson County shooting that wounded two, including a 15-year-old gir, one week ago today.

Christopher Andrew Perine, 48, is charged with two counts of attempted, one count of first-degree domestic violence and one count of third-degree domestic violence, sheriff’s officials announced Wednesday.

Deputies were dispatched at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, to the 2300 block of Grayson Valley Drive on a report of two people shot, said sheriff’s spokesman Henry Irby.

They arrived to find a 49-year-old man and the 15-year-old girl inured.

Center Point Fire and Rescue transported the man to UAB Hospital. The teen girl was taken to Children’s of Alabama.

Perine was taken into custody Friday, July 12, by the Tennessee State Patrol, jail records show. He was booked into Loudon County Jail, where he remained as of Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities have said the shooting was domestic-related but have not disclosed a motive or the relationship between Perine and the two victims.

“The coordination of our detective, the Birmingham and Knoxville FBI Field Offices and the Tennessee State Patrol worked together in apprehending this suspect quickly and without incident,’’ said Sheriff Mark Pettway.
