A Birmingham gentleman’s club was heavily damaged in a predawn fire Wednesday in Ensley.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service was dispatched at 3:47 a.m. to Club Volcano on 19th Street.

BFRS Lt. Catina Williams said the first firefighters arrived on the scene at 3:50 a.m. They saw smoke and fire on the first floor of the two-story building.

The club was closed at the time of the blaze. No one was injured.

Williams said the fire was contained to Club Volcano and did not spread to any adjacent business.

Investigators are working to determine what sparked the blaze.

Firefighters were still on the scene as of 7 a.m. Williams said the building sustained major damage.
