The stock market was up on Tuesday and so were most of the companies on our Birmingham and Alabama Stock Report.

For the second straight day, Community Health Systems led the surge, soaring 5% this time.

Nucor, the largest steel producer in the United States that has operations sites in Birmingham and Hoover, rose 3.5%.

U.S. Steel, which has major operations sites in Fairfield, jumped 3.4%.

Medical Properties Trust had a 2.9% increase.

Overall, Wall Street rallied Tuesday after a round of reports suggested the economy is in better shape than feared.
