Birmingham Citizen Action Partnership’s role unchanged in wake of Five Points shooting

Birmingham’s City Action Partnership (CAP) will continue with business as usual following a recent shooting in the Five Points South neighborhood, according to Five Points Alliance Chairman Steve Alexander.

“Since policing is a responsibility of the city, we’re looking to the city to do that,” Alexander said. “And if there’s a way for our Business Improvement District to supplement that in some way that doesn’t involve us getting involved in law enforcement, we will do that. But CAP will not play a role in enforcing the law in the district any more here than they would anywhere else… CAP is not law enforcement. They are not police or even quasi police.”
