Birmingham chef Abhi Sainju announces Maro, his new restaurant coming to Mountain Brook

Acclaimed Birmingham chef Abhishek “Abhi” Sainju is opening a new restaurant.

Wednesday, in posts on Facebook and Instagram, Sainju announced his new restaurant Maro will be opening soon. The eatery is located at 361 Rele Street in Mountain Brook, next to Son’s Donuts & Pops and across the street from Starbucks.

In comments on Facebook, Sainju said the new restaurant would serve “poke and many other bowls” and focus “on the lunch crowd.” Dining website Birmingham Restaurants describes Maro as a fast-casual Asian restaurant with menu items including bao-mi, signature poke, and “build your own” poke bowls. An Instagram post from the Maro account offers a sneak peek of another possible item– belly butt pork adobo.

Maro is located two minutes away from Sainju’s other restaurant in Mountain Brook, Abhi Eatery + Bar. The restaurant featuring sushi and Nepalese-inspired dishes opened in December 2019. Last year Sainju shuttered his first location of the restaurant at The Summit.
