The top ten richest zip codes in the Birmingham area all have median household incomes that are above the national median according to a study released by Stacker in 2020 compiled from U.S. Census data.

The Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA) says this shows growth in the metro and promise for future employment opportunities.

Zip code 35223, which covers parts of Mountain Brook and Vestavia Hills, was ranked #1 in Stacker’s list of the top ten richest zip codes in the metro with a median household income of over $141,000.

This amount is double the current median U.S. household income of around $71,000 according to Census data and has only increased over the last two years according to Tatianna Turrentine-Long, a market intelligence partner with the BBA.

“Since the [Stacker] study is based on census data from 2019, our team looked to see if there has been any net change in median income salaries since then,” said Long.
