Birmingham Business Alliance: Over $183 Million was invested in Birmingham this year

2022 brought nearly $200 million in capital investments into the metro area, according to Karla Khodanian of the Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA).

Those investments also produced nearly 1,500 jobs this year ,which Khodanian said are the product of 22 BBA projects.

For example, she said the year started off strong with refractory production company HarbisonWalker International opening a plant in Fairfield that employs 50 people.

The 200,000-square-foot property is located at a formerly closed Fairfield facility on 2595 Ensley-Pleasant Grove Rd. and cost $25 million to construct, according to a previous report from AL.com’s William Thornton.

In another development Khodanian described as “huge for the tech community,” app-company Fetch Rewards moved to Birmingham. Fetch created 200 jobs at their newly opened customer support hub in the Parkside District in the spring, with a capital investment of $1 million, according to Khodanian.
