Birmingham-based company breaks ground on $31 million Florida hospital project

Birmingham-based healthcare real estate investment firm The Sanders Trust has broken ground on a new $31 million inpatient rehabilitation facility in Lake City, Fla.

ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Lake City will be located at 198 SW Real Terrace Drive. The general contractor is MJ Harris. The hospital was designed by architect Studio +.

The Sanders Trust was selected as the developer of the 45,000-square-foot rehabilitation hospital, which will include 36 beds.

The facility will feature all private rooms, a gym with specialized equipment and one-on-one therapy, a dining room, and activity space to allow patients to receive therapy in rooms that emulate home conditions. There will also be an outside therapeutic courtyard with walking terrains.

The new hospital will provide rehab care to patients recovering from injuries or illnesses such as strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and other medically complex conditions.

It is expected to treat more than 650 patients annually.

CEO Rance Sanders said the project “will not only bring state-of-the-art rehabilitative care to Lake City, but also provide a vital resource for patients recovering from life-altering injuries and illnesses.”
