Birmingham artistâs song plays on popular HBO show âRap Sh!tâ
When Love Moor found out that her song, “Libra Scale” would air on an episode of HBO’s “Rap Sh!t,” she cried.
“Every time I get somewhere that I’ve never seen before but feels monumental, I cry,” said Moor, who likes to be called Love. “I thanked God. I called my mom. She doesn’t know what a ‘Rap Shit’ is, but I cried. I was overjoyed.”
Moor was born in Brooklyn, raised in Miami and came to Birmingham as a teenager. She graduated from Jackson-Olin High School and went to Lawson State Community College for a while. But she focused on working in Birmingham’s music circuit, performing at a lot of the underground Hip Hop open mic events.
Birmingham is where she was able to make a name for herself. “I performed at Saturn, Secret Stages, Art on the Rocks, UAB, a little bit of everywhere,” Moor said.
Moor also traveled to perform at places like Austin’s SXSW music festival.
However, she said she felt like the underground Hip Hop scene died during the pandemic. So Moor decided to move to Los Angeles in February 2023 to challenge herself artistically.
“In April 2022, I was signed to a distribution label that’s based in L.A. I’ve thought about coming back to Birmingham a couple of times,” said Moor. “Los Angeles is so expensive, but my short term goal is to be here for at least two years, and long term to make my artistry sustainable here.”
Moor recently released an EP called “October Baby” and a new song called “Eat Me”.
