Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris left the field in an ambulance in the second quarter of Sunday night’s game against the New York Giants.

But Harris managed to give a thumbs-up as he was being loaded.

The Bills announced Harris had sustained a neck injury and was out for the game after being transported to an area hospital for tests. The team said Harris had movement in his arms and legs.

Tackled by linebacker Bobby Okereke on his first carry of the game, the former Alabama ball-carrier did not get up after the 1-yard gain, and players from both teams waved urgently for help from the sidelines.

After being attended to on the field, Harris was strapped to a backboard, placed on a stretcher and loaded directly into an ambulance on the field at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.

Harris is in his first season with the Bills after playing four years with the New England Patriots.

Harris played for Alabama from 2015 through 2018. As the Crimson Tide’s leading rusher in each of his final three seasons, Harris totaled 3,070 yards and 23 touchdowns on 477 carries at Alabama.
