Big player who was large part of biggest win earns Super 7 Player of the Week honors

A big part of Parker’s biggest win ever had a huge week and finished with the largest number of votes in the Super 7 Player of the Week poll.

The 6-foot-2, 325-pound Jourdin Crawford, who signed with Auburn on Wednesday and earned Class 6A championship MVP honors on Friday, was the top vote-getter from the group of nominees who turned in highlight performances in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Super 7 last week. Crawford got 29 percent of the 6,926 votes in the survey – 1,985 votes.

Crawford was dominant on the defensive line as the Thundering Herd beat Saraland 28-17 for Parker’s first AHSAA state title. He had 7 tackles, 4.5 for a loss, 3 sacks and a pass breakup on the night.

Catavis “Tae” Martin of Reeltown got 1,001 votes – 14.45 percent – for his efforts in the Rebels’ 49-13 win over Tuscaloosa Academy for the Class 2A crown to finish second in the poll. The University of North Alabama signee had 2 interceptions and recovered a fumble to go with his 107 yards rushing yards on 9 carries. Martin also scored on a 39-yard pass reception and a 40-yard run.

Moody linebacker/running back Kaleb Goff was third in the voting with 13.77 percent – 954 votes – after leading the Blue Devils with 8 tackles, 7 solo, and a tackle for a loss in a 17-14 loss to Montgomery Catholic. Goff also had 7 carries for 25 yards and an 11-yard score.
