Big changes for Alabama weather later this week
Alabama weather will be on a roller coaster of sorts this week, with big changes coming by the end of the week.
The big things to look for, according to the National Weather Service:
* Confidence is rising in Thanksgiving Day being a rainy one for parts of the state.
* There is a chance for some stronger storms on Thursday, but confidence as of Sunday was decreasing on the possibility for severe weather.
* An Arctic blast could arrive by Friday, with much colder temperatures expected over the holiday weekend.
The weather service is forecasting temperatures to begin to warm up today and on Monday. Highs today will be in the 60s and 70s statewide:

A front will move through from Monday into Tuesday, bringing chances for some rain to parts of the state, and southerly winds will bring unseasonably warm temperatures back.
The weather service expects rain chances to drop as you head southeast in the state.

Tuesday will bring cooler temperatures for most of the state after the front passes through. South Alabama will stay warm, however:

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will be on the chilly side, with lows hitting the 30s again in some areas. Here are the Tuesday night-Wednesday morning lows. South Alabama won’t feel those colder temperatures, however:

Wednesday will warm up some as the next weather system takes shape, according to the weather service.
Big questions still remain about what could happen on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.
The weather service said a strong cold front is expected to move across the state. The big question will be if conditions could set up for potentially stronger storms along and ahead of the front.
As of Sunday there is no severe weather in the forecast from NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center for Thursday:

Forecasters will be watching closely to see if warm air can make it far enough north in Alabama to potentially spawn storms. That was in question as of Sunday but will become more clear in the next few days.
The weather service said what is not in question is that much of the state will see rain at times on Thanksgiving Day.
Showers could develop as early as Wednesday night and last through the day Thursday (Thursday’s rain chances are shown at the top of this post).
Highs on Thursday could range from the 50s in north Alabama to the 70s in south Alabama:

Much colder air will take the stage across Alabama beginning on Friday, Black Friday, as Arctic air arrives.
