Biden should also ‘be afraid’ of Mike Rogers amid Space Force decision: Tuberville

The Biden administration should not just worry about how Sen. Tommy Tuberville will respond to its reported decision to keep U.S. Space Command in Colorado instead of moving the headquarters to Alabama, the senator said Monday.

It should also “be afraid” of Mike Rogers, the Republican House member from east Alabama and chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Alabama congressman who urged the White House to “preserve all documents” related to the decision, according to Tuberville.

“Reports say the administration is afraid of aggravating me over U.S. Space Command,” Tuberville tweeted, referring to the NBC report quoting an anonymous Biden administration official as saying the White House was delaying announcing the decision “they don’t want to aggravate Tuberville even more.”

“They also need to be afraid of Chairman @RepMikeRogersAL,” the senator said, using the congressman’s Twitter handle.

The unnamed official cited by NBC News was alluding to the senator’s holding up of more than 180 military nominations over the Defense Department’s new abortion policies.

President Trump ordered Space Command’s headquarters to move from Colorado Springs to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, but the Biden White House reopened the base selection process after accusing Trump of basing the decision on politics.

Unnamed administration officials told NBC News that Biden plans to keep Space Force headquarters in Colorado over Alabama’s strict abortion law that bans the procedure except in cases where the life of the mother is threatened.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration is facing the same claims from Alabama elected officials on both sides of the aisle who claim the White House is playing politics with the move.
